April 12th

Saturday, we decided to sleep in late and have a lazy day together. It was our 7 year anniversary (!!!!) We spent the day lounging around the apartment, talking, reading, just simply enjoying each other’s company. In the afternoon we decided to go for a walk (despite the rainy spring weather) and headed down to the local fish market. We decided that since it had been almost 2 1/2 months since we enjoyed fresh local meat that we would indulge in some fresh fish! The fish store is owned by 3 crazy Greek men who spoke fast and were a bit abrasive but in that charming old world kind of way. Anyway, as we were paying for the fish one of the guys was cutting off slices of salmon right off the fish and was giving it to people as they were leaving… haha i passed on it but they wouldn’t take Rory’s no for an answer… so we walked back home with his salmon in hand.

Rory decided that he wanted to make me a nice dinner instead of going out which sounded great to me … we have both been really busy in the past few months and haven’t had a chance to wind down in some time… Rory looked great so I decided to get dolled up for the occasion (I love dressing up but seldom get the chance to do it). Dinner was perfect – the meal – poached halibut with ginger and cilantro accompanied by a delicious glass of white French wine – the warm candlelight – all of it was tied together by the deep and thoughtful conversation.

It’s really amazing to sit with someone you’ve known for 9 years and have been with for 7 – who has been through a lot of personal change with themselves, you, their family, friends & with their passions & love & experiences… and has been supporting you through all your change too. To be able to grow and change and experience new things and still see eye to eye and love each other just as much as before but in a deeper way – it is truly something to be grateful for. To know that no matter how sad or weird or hard life can become you have someone to come. home. to. All the bumps in the road have made us stronger as individuals – we know ourselves better and therefore can be in a healthy and true relationship with one another. It really is true…. “to find someone you love, you gotta be someone you love.” and I’m so happy that I have both ❤ When you have love in your life you can do anything…
