easter – part I

we made it back to the cape for easter to see our families and celebrate rory’s grandmother’s 70th birthday. the idea of going home was getting me through those harsh cold days in march as i longed to visit the ocean and see familiar faces. i spent most of the days i was home helping my dad re-landscape the outside of the house. everything was getting too big and over grown for the foundation so it was time to do an overhaul. each day i was there from 9 – 5 transplanting trees all over the yard, picking up brush, and really bringing life back to our home. it feels so good to be outside – getting your hands dirty and really helping out. i really couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend my days back home – it was so refreshing – and it’s certainly one thing you can’t do in the city. plus i got to spend a lot of time with my dad which was nice – and he really appreciated all the help – i could just tell that it meant a lot to him. one day we decided to have a brush fire and even got steph and rory to help out a bit – it was fun. it makes me excited to think about the summer on the cape!
