morning sunbeams

This morning we were woken by songbirds, ducks & sunbeams peaking over the horizon. I love being out in the wild especially when first waking up to the day.. I become more of a morning person when I sleep outdoors. Awaking as the sun comes up is truly a beautiful thing. We are trying to do yoga and meditation each day to be more aware and in touch with ourselves throughout this trip.. As we were packing up the car we were greeted by our 4 deer friends again this morning – they were passing through our campsite out into the marsh next to us and we just watched as we were graced by their presence. It was such a gift.

I forgot to mention the young gentleman we met Monday… while we were driving down windy forest roads we approached a young man on bike with two re-purposed plastic kitty litter boxes attached to either side and a sleeping bag and tent hooked onto the rear. As we passed Rory said, “He’s probably got the same idea as we do.”

Sure enough as we were setting up camp he coasted by our site. He was making a bike trek through the Adirondacks to Maine and possibly across Canada and he was starting that same day. He saw our bikes and instantly made the connection. It’s funny how two totally different journey’s starting at the same time at different points can intersect like that… makes you wonder how many connections you can make when you open yourself up to them….
