Once again while camping we found ourselves having the whole place to ourselves. We were nestled in the middle of nowhere in Viroqua, Wisconsin on Sidie Hollow Lake. When we arrived there were a few men fishing until the sun went down and smelled the sweet blooms in the air. We set up camp right next to the babbling brook which ran into the Lake. It was peaceful and serene. As soon as the sun went down we began to hear the creatures of the night – bats and owls and even a large pack of coyotes who made quite a racket for a good half an hour. If you’ve ever heard a large pack of coyotes in the silent air you know that it can be a bit unsettling. We sat and ate dinner as they finally passed through – calming my heart just a bit. We ended the night in a fire dance and rested our heads listening to the soothing sounds of the water flowing down stream.
