Hawk Spring, Wyoming

Wide open space, glorious buttes and big skies. After leaving the Black Hills we made our way into cowboy country. We stopped in the small town of Lusk where Ashley, an old friend of mine from the Cape has called home. It was nice to catch up for a short while – it felt good to stretch out our limbs and enjoy the company of an old friend. We spent the night at Hawk Springs where we drove 2 miles down a bumpy dirt road to the campgrounds nestled by a reservoir overlooked by a glorious butte. Watching the vermillion sun go down, washing the sky with purple hues over that panoramic vista was one of those moments where time and place connect. Wyoming was a beautiful state that I’d like to see more of – specifically Yellowstone and the Rockies. But from Wyoming we were moving South to Boulder, Colorado – a city nestled in the Rockies where bikes owned the road. I was excited…
