While traveling around the Mission with Rog we found San Francisco’s only independent pirate supply store. Charmingly put together. The pirate store seemed that it wasn’t there just to sell trendy pirate merchandise. In fact, a lot of its wares weren’t fashionable commodities but usual items such as shovels, ropes, mop heads and spy glasses. The main thrust of the store’s agenda seemed to be in celebrating fantasy and mythology of pirates and inspiring creativity in the community by doing such things as hosting writing workshops and storytelling for young kids. While browsing Roger bent over to peer at a display – the type on the plaque next to it was very small. He had to lean in – closer – closer to read it’s minute script. It said, “Mopped. Why me? Why was it that I had to be moped today?” and before finishing the sentence a cascade of mop heads came from above pummeling Roger’s head. The store clerks at the counter laughed as did we all. Roger had been mopped. The Pirate Supply Store is awesome – an experience in itself and we highly recommend others to check it out if they are in the area (or maybe you should just take a special trip for it).
