Redwoods Hike

The next day we took a hike through the Redwoods on the South Fork trail. It was a very humbling experience – humbling that they are so old – to be in the presence of the oldest living things on Earth makes you feel insignificant. Sound reverberates through the hard wood of the trees and echoes through the open spaces. We only passed a few other people on the trail but you could hear their footsteps from far away as they approached. It’s the land of giants; the banana slugs, the snails, the clovers and ferns – were all larger than life. It was such quiet and still beauty – I could have built a tree forest up in the deep woods and spent my life there.
