After a day long hike through the redwoods we ventured a little further north to another State Park (by the name of Mill Creek) in the Redwoods to camp for the night. We were given our number and headed down a few miles to the campground. As we got closer I began to hear Rory chant, “come on big money, big money…” and sure enough we had a campsite all to ourselves up in the trees. Raised up on a forest bank with a private stairway to get to it under a canopy of second generation redwood trees. It was awesome.
We took in an early evening hike through the woods before dinner and breathed in the dank woody aromas and really felt at peace in the silence. Forests are such a calming place. As the sun came down fast over the tall, vibrant green trees the forest began to transform into a place where he silence is so deep and the woods so vast that your solitude can easily give way to a feeling of vulnerability.
We headed back to camp before the night creatures emerged & prepared ourselves for the next part of the adventure that we had heard many a great things about – the beautiful state of Oregon!
