From September 22, 2010 –
Sara Par Par just left for the Edward Gorey House and the rockiest beach on the Cape – it’s her final day here and she is leaving on a high note. She arrived here early Monday evening before the sun went down. After a greeting and a tiny respite from driving we were off to Dowses for a bundled up walk along the seaside – barefoot and fully in love with the gifts the sea was giving to us. So many seashells – pinks & whites & browns… piping plovers scuddling about and the mossiest green seaweed you ever did see. It was in this trip that Sara discovered why I retreat to the seaside… specifically my adoration for the Cape.
We watched the orange glowing sunset and hot pink streams cast over the horizon line.. the cerulean blue sky was cool and crisp and the almost full lady moon made her presence known and took our breath away…
We headed home and I grilled up some portobello mushroom burgers with a side of homegrown yukon gold mashed potatoes. Afterward we went out for a cup of tea at the Common Ground (aka the big treehouse) and indulged in a piece of deliciously moist carrot cake! It was the perfect compliment to our warm conversation which was filled with excitement for the next day of adventure to come….
