Time Flies…

Boy oh boy,

the month of June is just flying by, isn’t it?  I can hardly believe we’re nearing the last weeks of June, never mind the fact, that I’m turning 27 on the 27th, in just a few days time.  Needless to say, a lot of good things have been going on in the past week and things are looking really good for the summer.

Last weekend we opened up the stand and were greeted by many familiar faces and even a few friendly new ones.  It felt really good to be up there nourishing the community and talking with people.  That paired with the happy state of all our plants, has kept all of us here in really positive states of mind with any stress dissipating with the ocean breeze.

Ain’t nothing brighter than a fruit & a flower amongst a sea of green…

Although, my golden birthday is next Monday, I haven’t had any time to plan anything cool but, as always, I’m rolling with the punches to see what the day will bring.  I never put much emphasis on the day I was born, but more on the year in it’s entirety and what I’ve accomplished.  I just see the day as a way to celebrate the previous year and to start the new one off with uplifting and motivated energy.  Honestly, all I want for my birthday is to begin the construction of our tree house and I believe I may get just that…

We went to see Rory’s sister, Ms. Siobhan Magnus, at the Melody Tent last weekend (which was awesome by the way) and while we were there we saw almost everyone we knew who lived on Cape Cod.  Within the friendly mix of faces we caught up with two of our old teachers/mentors/drama club advisors, Mr. O’Toole & Mr. Sullivan, and they said they’d be happy to help out with our tree house endeavor.  Both of them had lots of leftover wood, from different construction projects, that we were welcome to pick through and use for our house.  On Tuesday we headed over to Mr. OT’s and were encouraged when we found a stack or two of useable PT wood plus a railing for a balcony/deck which set off even more excitement about getting the project under way!   Hopefully in the coming weeks I’ll have some DIY updates about our progress.

A pile of recycled metal is brought into it’s new life as our 200 ft. tomato trellis!

Speaking of DIY, check out that tomato trellis we put together a few days ago (!!!).  Our tomatoes have been taking off this week, due to all the mixed weather of warm summer sunshine and thorough rain we’ve been getting in June, so our thoughts about a trellis needed to be put into action quickly.  We needed something sturdy since we have over 250 tomato plants in the ground and were in luck when we located some scrap metal (from some kind of tower) and got to work measuring, cutting, lifting & moving all the metal.  With all the hard work we put in, we finished it in a day, and couldn’t be more pumped about the results.

If it’s sunny/not raining, I plan to be out at the stand, so feel free to stop on by for a visit.  Dear Prudence, our miracle chicken, has been hanging out with me while I’m there, where she’s been enjoying the sunshine and practicing her new method of getting around – the sweetest chicken hop you ever did see.

Dear prudence, illustrating the sweet hop that she now does…
